Training

Training is a big part of the service offered by Motorvate Therapies Ltd.  We offer a range of courses that can be tailor made to suit the requirements of the client. Primarily we aim to:

  • Provide a basic understanding of normal development and specific learning and co-ordination difficulties.
  • Provide a more in-depth understanding of specific learning and co-ordination difficulties, how these conditions manifest themselves and how to adapt the curriculum and teaching approaches to support different learning needs.
  • Provide an understanding of the principles of individual or group intervention and how to develop a programme to meet individual needs.
  • Provide ongoing support to clients running their own intervention programmes. Training packages can be tailor made to suit individual requirements.
  • Provide strategies to support youngsters with the skills of day to day living.

Courses we currently offer include:

  1. An Introduction to Normal Development & Specific Developmental Conditions. This introductory full day course outlines a child’s typical pattern of development and describe where specific developmental conditions such as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) among others fit into this. Delegates have the opportunity to experience some of the difficulties a child may face and learn strategies to adapt the approach in working with children with these difficulties.
  2. Normal Development, Specific Developmental Conditions and the Impact of Attachment Disorder. This course covers much of the material from the introductory course in more detail and most importantly looks at the impact of Attachment disorder which we are finding is becoming an increasingly important issue with youngsters we are working with.
  3. Specific Strategies for Children with Specific Developmental & Learning Difficulties. This course explores the specific difficulties requested by the delegates themselves. This work shop based course allows the delegates to share strategies, consider and learn new ones and go back to their own situations better equipped to cope with the challenges they face on a day to day basis in supporting sometimes challenging youngsters. Delegates are provided with a follow up pack which includes a comprehensive package of strategies discussed on the day.
  4. How to Introduce a Motor Skills Programme. This two hour course is offered as part of our Motor Skills Programme for Schools and is offered free of charge when schools purchase the programme. Delegates are given a brief outline of child development highlighting the critical part that movement plays. An opportunity is given to try out part of the programme having been taken step by step through the process of introducing the Motor Skills Programme into the school environment.
  5. How to Introduce a Sensory Awakening Programme. This course is offered as the complimentary training for schools who purchase our Sensory Awakening Programme. Normal development, what the SLD actually is, the symptoms, how it relates to other conditions, the importance of movement, treatment and strategies to support youngsters and families are all discussed.
  11. Living with a Specific Learning Difficulty.  Using video clips and live presentations by young people and adults who have grown up with a Specific Learning Difficulty or more Complex Disability, delegates get the opportunity to question and discuss the challenges. This powerful and enlightening course really highlights the obstacles many have to cope with on a daily basis.
